Working with Transparencies |
| Transparencies can add a whole new dimension to your art work and once you
try them you will be hooked. Also known as acetate, transparencies can pose a
challenge as many adhesives will show through. You can treat them as you would
vellums and some of the vellum tapes work with varied success. I have used
Liquid Paper Dry Line Permanent adhesive in clear with good results.
I like Diamond Glaze, especially if you are gluing to a slick surface, metal, glass or wood. When working with collage, ATC's and altered books, I absolutely love Golden Gel Medium. I am using it as a glue in almost every project. Since many tapes and glues will show through the transparency, you can also cover the glue or tape by adding trim, ribbon or layering clip art, text, etc. Running through a Xyron also works well. The tape runner adhesive also work well and any of the tapes for using vellum work with transparencies. Other methods include sewing, using eyelets or brads. Improvising on embellishments can really add an unique look to your art.
